ThreeTags – changing user password

ThreeTags utilizes user passwords for two purposes: user authentication and data encryption. A standard password changing procedure would allow users to sign in with their new passwords; however, user data stored on the server would be impossible to de-crypt using new passwords, and thus it would become inaccessible to users.

Because of this, we currently let users change their passwords only when their accounts are empty.

Thus, in order to change your password if you have data in your threetags.com account, you should:

  1. back up (export) your data;
  2. delete all your online information;
  3. change the password;
  4. restore (import) your data.
